Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. Taylor Swift was born on the 13th of December, 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is a pop/country songwriter and singer for more than 20 years. The stories she tells of her young love and heartbreak have gained her widespread popularity throughout the 21st century. Swift discovered a love for the arts at a very young age, and quickly moved from roles in theatre for children and her first public appearance in front of the crowd of a thousand. Swift was just 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. In the following year Swift began to write songs and picked up the guitar. Drawing inspiration from popular country artists like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original music that was a reflection of her experience of growing up in a world that was dominated by tweens. When she was 13 Swift's parents decided to sell their farm in Pennsylvania and moved to Hendersonville Tennessee so she could dedicate more time to wooing labels from the country near Nashville.
